What is Robusta coffee?

Robusta coffee beans account for about 40% of global coffee production and are often blended with Arabica coffee beans in blends. Robusta coffee beans are roasted at higher temperatures than Arabica coffee beans to bring out their powerful aroma. Although Robusta coffee beans taste bitter, they are cheap to produce and are frequently mixed with Arabica coffee beans to make a blend. Robusta coffee beans are used in instant coffee, ground coffee and in blends with Arabica coffee beans.
